About these numbers

What does seasonally adjusted mean?

Insolvency numbers rise and fall at predictable times of year. Seasonal adjustment removes that regular pattern so month to month changes are easier to compare. The Insolvency Service publishes both adjusted and unadjusted figures.

How often is this page updated?

The Insolvency Service publishes company insolvency figures once a month. We refresh this page with each release and set the new date on it.

Do these cover Scotland and Northern Ireland?

The headline figures here are for England and Wales. The Insolvency Service publishes separate figures for Scotland and Northern Ireland in the same release.
